I apologize for the lack of updates. I was out of town for a few days, and then for some odd reason blogger decided this site was inappropriate and shut it down for awhile. I will get to posting soon.
The children of the FLDS mother's have the right to their mother's breastmilk. NOTE: I DO NOT take a position on the issue of if the children should or should not be in the custody of the FLDS community. They need to be safe, and I trust that those involved are making the best decisions for them. I do feel the children that were breastfeeding deserve to continue to have breast milk, and by any means the judge determines it can be given to them safely.
About this site
This site is about the FLDS babies that deserve breast milk and the mothers that are breastfeeding for their children. This site is about the nutritional and bonding benefits of breastfeeding. The site is not about polygamy, not about religion, not about abuse. It is not my place to judge where or not the children should be, or who the children should be with. This is about making sure the children that were breastfeeding continue to have optimal nutrition, breast milk.
Right to Breastmilk
I am saddened to say that many Texan breastfeeding mothers may be separated from their nursing infants immediately, if not already. (see www.deseretnews.com, "FLDS consider options to keep their children"). While we may not agree or understand the circumstances, I think we need to fight for the right of the children to have the best care and nutrition, which includes breast milk. I am seeking collaboration from breastfeeding advocates, nursing mothers, the media, and anyone whom is able to help support this initiative or provide breastfeeding and breast pumping supplies that these mothers and babies may need. Please help us advocate and educate those involved in the FLDS case, that breast milk has no substitute and is the right of the children.
